Intervention
People suffering from alcohol and drug abuse can be hard to talk to. An intervention specialist can help because this person has extensive experience in drug and alcohol interventions. The intervention specialist knows that he or she is dealing with a disease that causes the addicted person to act in ways that are very dishonest and manipulative and the affected person may experience delusions and denial.
Intervention Specialist Techniques
To cope with substance abuse intervention, Addiction Direction employs techniques we have used effectively many times before:
The concerned party (family member, employer, manager or acquaintance) contacts Addiction Directions and we set a time for phone consultation.
Once it is agreed that the subject in question needs an intervention, we began to make a plan and set a time for the intervention itself.
We locate a treatment facility best suited for the subject and make admission arrangements at that facility to immediately follow the substance abuse intervention.
Next, we set a time for a pre-intervention meeting.
Meanwhile, the concerned party fills out paperwork so that our intervention specialist can become familiar with the addicted person and the family and friends who will be attending the intervention. Often Addiction Directions will have those attending write letters or bring other evidence of the reality of the substance abuse intervention subject's harmful path.
The intervention specialists have a lot of experience and will change methods/approaches for each situation and may change the approach many times during the intervention. Since this disease causes the addicted person to be very clever and evasive, we fight this disease with a gloves-off approach. The addicted person's opinions and feelings come second since the main goal is to get the person to accept help right then and there.
To complete the process, we immediately transport that person to the facility.
Substance Abuse Interventions
We perform drug alcohol interventions, as well interventions for eating disorders, sex addiction and gambling. We have intervention specialists who can work with persons as young as 14 and, in those cases, our staff will never be alone with a minor. A legal guardian must accompany the minor.
Since we are very familiar with facilities that deal with alcohol/drugs, eating disorders, sex addiction and gambling addictions, we can make recommendations to a wide range of addiction treatment services at different costs points. Our connection with all types of facilities enable us to provide consulting, sober living homes, referrals to professionals after treatment or once the individual enters into a facility.
