Finding Direction -- How Addiction Interventions Work

When people are suffering from substance abuse or other addictions they tend to live in a complete state of denial. In essence, the substance or other addiction has taken their mind over, and they in effect become controlled by their addiction. To completely break through to a person, it takes more than love from family members or threats of losing friends or a job. A good Addiction Specialist knows that to fight the disease of addiction, different techniques are needed in order to be successful. Addiction Directions' professional and compassionate specialists know that sometimes a gloves off approach is necessary to get the substance abuser to see the devastating effects on self and family. We have many steps we follow to ensure success for those needing addiction intervention, such as:

  • When a concerned family member contacts us and we determine the person needs an intervention, we arrange the time for the intervention and make arrangements for the admission to a treatment facility.
  • We go over all the details of the intervention in a pre-intervention meeting with the concerned members, where our Addiction Specialist becomes familiar with the addicted person, the family, and friends who will be attending the intervention.
  • We hold the intervention. Along with the Interventionist Specialist, a concerned group (family, employers, manager or acquaintance) works together to confront the addicted person and break them out of the dishonesty and manipulation enough to accept help and enter a rehab or treatment center.
  • To complete the intervention process, we immediately transport that person to the treatment facility that was pre-arranged.
